What size of motorcycle should i get for my size? im 6'4"?

Question: What size of motorcycle should i get for my size? im 6'4"?

(Posted by: Timothy B on 2010-03-08 23:04:44)

Im planning to buy a motorcycle because me and my girlfriend have always wanted to own sport- bikes and ride them together. The one problem is that she is 5'4 " and so the bike that she wants to get, the Kawasaki Ninja 250R, is better fit for her size. But should i get the same bike since I've never been on a motorcycle before, or should i just get a bigger so i don't have to waste money getting a bigger one later?

A ninja 250 would probably be too small for you. It's not all about height though, weight has a factor as well. 5'4'' is a fine size for a 250, I've heard of girls 5' that make it work without making any adjustments. For yourself, while not knowing your weight, I wouldn't get a 250. I'm about 6'2'' 6'3'' and my first bike was a Ninja 500, I'm only 150 though, but I know many people ride it with no issues, both big and small :) Best thing to do for yourself is go to a dealership and sit on some bikes to get a feel for what you'd like. HOWEVER, if you've never ridden before, don't go crazy because, by going off the stats, YOU WILL DROP THE BIKE. You may also learn riding is not for you. If you want to learn more about the 500 go to ........ ex-500.com/ it's full of very useful info even if you don't pick the bike. I'm on there as well under the same name :) Good luck

I'm 6'3 ", and I ride a GSX-R750, but I have been on bikes since I was four. I think you should go with something like a suzuki sv-650. It's sporty and quick, bigger, and not too scary for an inexperienced rider. If you get a 250 you will get bored, quick . You may even get bored with the sv, and want a more muscly bike. I started on a ninja zx636r and got bored. Those things are fast. If you are looking to get a crazy adrenaline rush, get an RR bike such as CBR, GSX-R, ZXR, R6 or R1, anywhere from 600 to 1000, they are all scary. If you just want to cruise with your girl, get a semi-sport bike, a 2004-2007 or even older if you want, Suzuki Katana would suit you really well.. Dont get a brand new one, i read they are making them meaner than the hayabusa. Hope this helps, feel free to contact me with any questions.

Go for the biggest cheapest bike you can find trust you don't want no 250 they are slow and have no acceleration ive gotten in more wrecks on a smaller bike then bigger bike, you feel like you can hit corners at 80mph on a smaller bike you can!no lie. get the bigger bike after you get use to it you will thank me

I think you should get a bigger bike then a 250 . You can start out slow with a bigger bike, and you shouldnt have much trouble holding it up. I . started out with a 1981 Suzuki 250. I rode it for maybe 6 weeks before I sold it to get a bigger bike. I had never ridden even a dirt bike before that. I now have a 1977 Kawasaki 650 and very happy with the performance am 5'6 " weigh 135 pounds . Like another poster said the 250 doesn't accelerate as well and etc.
