Weird problem with motorcycle?

Question: Weird problem with motorcycle?

(Posted by: Gazlowe on 2010-03-08 14:15:38)

When I started my bike up after winter storage, it needed a little juice from my car and it came to life. but after taking the jumper cables off, the lights start flickering and the engine starts stuttering. I know this sounds like a weak battery, but the weird thing is that while its in neutral and I apply either the front or back brakes its rpm goes up slightly and stays constant. I dont know why an extra load on the battery would make it run normal. needless to say, when I shut it off the battery was completely dead.

Poor ground connection. when you activate the lights it actually improves the circuit to ground. Start checking cables and connections for corrosion.

Your battery is dead, or you just shocked it to hell because your car might have a higher voltage than your bike.

Your lights were mostly likely working off your alternator/ Generator... depending on how new your bike is the battery being dead could cause it to run rough, the electrical system i probably not getting the correct voltage. a dead battery will cause the alternator to over charge and may cause it to go bad... put the battery on a slow 2 amp charge over night and make sure it does not have a dry cell.... most .bike don't charge at idle, riding it may help Oh yeah make sure your car is not running when you jump off your bike
