I agree with Freak Show 100%....if you are doing any of your own work, you need a FACTORY service manual...stay away from Clymer and Haynes, they are crap that leave out alot of critical info that only HD includes in their books. What year & model are you working on...ALWAYS give this info, we can't help you if we don't know what you have!!!....I will help walk you through it, but I don't know what bike you have. You should also LUBE THE CABLE and adjust the primary chain (if 06-earlier) at this point.

Buy the manual. It will be the best money you ever spend. I'm sure someone here will drop in and talk you through it, but both manual for my Sportster and my Roadking had pictures that made it much easier to follow. It also depends on what you mean by "adjust. "

Details, details, details. No one can help you, unless we know what your problem is. Also, get the factory manual. If there is some thing, you just don't understand, with the manual. Then, this is a good place to ask.
