1980 harley davidson shovelhead question?
i have a 1980 shovelhead that is both kick and electric start. i want to know if i can completely remove the starter and soleniod from the bike and just fun it as a kick start only. well i am sure i probably can but what all will i need to change to make this work. is there a block off plate where the starter bolts up or something. so if anyone knows what i need please let me know.....thanks in advancewhy why why is a good question. the answer is because i am building just a plain jane bar hopper typw of bike. already converted this thing to a 93 incher with s & s sidewinder kit. it has no wiring at all on the bike so i will just be wiring up ignition and lights basically. i have 2 other harley 01 road king and a 02 heritage so when i want the easy way out by pushing a button i can just ride those lol. also update i found a block off kit in j & p catalog for like $30.00 bucks. cheap enough i will order it in the morning.jrrysimm and micheal.......i agree with you both. as far as the kicking i have it down to a science lol i can have it fired off in only 2 kicks everytime except the few times i can get it in one kick lol. my fuel is near perfect and my timing is handled with a crane cams HI 4 unit with with matching ignition coil.
